More than 1,400 buildings in Kyiv are without heating, and the government is expanding its support programme.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the most difficult situation with energy currently remains in Kyiv. According to him, more than 1,400 apartment buildings in the capital still remain without heating. The head of state wrote about this on Telegram following a conference call on eliminating the consequences of Russian strikes.
Zelensky emphasised that the residents of each such building must receive all the necessary support. In this regard, the volume of the heat package programme will be increased in Kyiv. According to the President, in the near future, the programme will reach the level of distributing 40,000 packages, a significant part of which will be sent to the capital.
During the conference call, reports were heard on the situation in the Kyiv region, in Kharkiv and other cities in the region, in the Sumy, Chernihiv, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, and in Kropyvnytskyi and the region. Kherson region was discussed separately, where six settlements are experiencing difficult energy conditions due to constant drone strikes and extremely difficult conditions for recovery. Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Lviv and Chernivtsi regions were also discussed.
The President paid special attention to the situation with nuclear power generation during his conversation with Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal. Zelensky emphasised that nuclear power facilities, as well as related infrastructure and networks, remain constant targets for the Russian army. According to him, this requires a higher level of protection and more active communication with international partners so that the world does not ignore this threat.
In addition, the President discussed with the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force and the Minister of Defence the implementation of agreements with partners on the supply of missiles for air defence. Zelensky emphasised the need for a clear schedule for the delivery of such packages and the maximum involvement of all state institutions to speed up delivery so that pauses do not exacerbate the consequences of Russian attacks.
