Ukraine, the US and the EU held consultations on the peace process in Miami
The first round of consultations between representatives of Ukraine, the United States and European countries in the framework of peace talks has ended in Miami. This was announced by the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
According to him, the parties agreed on further steps and continuation of joint work in the near future. The Ukrainian side informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the results of the meeting.
At the same time, representatives of European countries are visiting the United States. In particular, according to German media, Berlin has sent Chancellor Friedrich Merz, a foreign policy adviser, for informal consultations with the US administration. Representatives of the UK and France are also planning to join the discussions.
A delegation from Russia is also expected in Miami on 20 and 21 December. Among the participants from the Russian side is Russian presidential adviser Kirill Dmitriev. The US side is represented by US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's advisor Jared Kushner.
According to media reports, one of the key issues is the territorial one. Kyiv emphasises that it does not recognise the occupied territories as part of Russia, neither in fact nor in law, and insists on maintaining its sovereignty within internationally recognised borders.
