Six towns and villages in the Kyiv region have been placed under quarantine following a case of rabies
This is reported by Nash Kyiv.
The villages in question are Shchaslyve, Chubynske, Mala and Velyka Oleksandrivka, Bezuhlivka and Prolisky.
The restrictions will last for 60 days.
Rabies is one of the most dangerous infections in the world:
- it cannot be treated once symptoms appear;
- it is transmitted through bites and even saliva;
- it is equally fatal for both animals and humans.
There is only one effective protection against rabies — vaccination.
Pet owners are reminded:
- to have their pets vaccinated against rabies;
- follow the rules for walking pets;
- avoid contact with stray and wild animals.
Vaccinations can be administered at clinics run by the municipal enterprise ‘Kyiv City Veterinary Hospital’ at the following addresses:
- 5-A Heroiv Energetykiv Street — (063) 552 07 76;
- 13-A Yaroslavska Street — (063) 536 53 37;
- 29 Virmenska Street — (097) 563 92 79.
