Rabies in the Kyiv region
A case of rabies has been reported in a community near the capital in the Kyiv region — quarantine restrictions have been imposed for 60 days across six settlements. The villages affected are Shchaslyve, Chubynske, Mala and Velyka Oleksandrivka, Bezuhlivka and Prolisky.

This is reported by Nash Kyiv.

The villages in question are Shchaslyve, Chubynske, Mala and Velyka Oleksandrivka, Bezuhlivka and Prolisky.

The restrictions will last for 60 days.

Rabies is one of the most dangerous infections in the world:

  • it cannot be treated once symptoms appear;
  • it is transmitted through bites and even saliva;
  • it is equally fatal for both animals and humans.

There is only one effective protection against rabies — vaccination.

Pet owners are reminded:

  • to have their pets vaccinated against rabies;
  • follow the rules for walking pets;
  • avoid contact with stray and wild animals.

Vaccinations can be administered at clinics run by the municipal enterprise ‘Kyiv City Veterinary Hospital’ at the following addresses:

  • 5-A Heroiv Energetykiv Street — (063) 552 07 76;
  • 13-A Yaroslavska Street — (063) 536 53 37;
  • 29 Virmenska Street — (097) 563 92 79.
