A day of mourning has been declared in Kharkiv following a rocket strike on a residential building
Kharkiv has declared a day of mourning for those killed in the Russian missile strike on a residential building that took place on the night of 7 March.
At least 10 people, including two children, were killed when a missile struck the high-rise building directly. The exact number of victims is being determined.
Search and rescue operations are continuing at the site of the strike. The attack took place in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv.
The shelling destroyed the entrance to a five-storey residential building and damaged the structures of apartments on the upper floors of a neighbouring building.
As of now, 16 people are known to have been injured, including three children.
Rescuers are continuously clearing the rubble in search of bodies. The work is being carried out manually and with the use of heavy engineering equipment.
During the examination of the rubble, dog handlers found body parts.
Units from Kharkiv and other garrisons of the State Emergency Service, including climbers, sappers and dog handlers, are working at the site. The city's utility services are also involved in the work.
Psychologists from the State Emergency Service are providing assistance to the victims and their families.
