Ukrainian Accountants’ and Auditors’ Day 2026: the history of the holiday and greetings
In 2026, Accountants’ and Auditors’ Day falls on a Thursday.
On Thursday, 16 July, Ukraine celebrates Accountants’ and Auditors’ Day. This is a professional holiday for those responsible for financial accounting, reporting, taxation and the oversight of the use of funds.

The date of the holiday is fixed — it is celebrated every year on 16 July. In 2026, Accountants’ and Auditors’ Day falls on a Thursday.

This is an official professional holiday, although the law does not provide for a separate public holiday on this occasion.

Why Accountants’ Day is celebrated on 16 July

The date was chosen to mark the adoption of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Accounting and Financial Reporting in Ukraine’. The Verkhovna Rada passed it on 16 July 1999. The document set out the basic principles of accounting and the preparation of financial statements in Ukraine.

The professional holiday was officially established in 2004 by a presidential decree. It was originally called Accountant’s Day.

In 2018, the name was changed to Accountant and Auditor Day, adding audit specialists to the list of those celebrated on 16 July. The relevant decree remains in force.

Who is celebrated on 16 July

On this day, congratulations are extended to accountants working in companies, government bodies, non-governmental organisations and the private sector. The holiday also applies to auditors, financial controllers, accounting department staff and specialists who prepare and verify financial statements.

The work of an accountant has long since gone beyond mere calculations and filling in forms. These professionals keep abreast of changes in legislation, calculate salaries and taxes, monitor payments, prepare financial statements and help businesses avoid financial errors.
