Ukrainian drones struck 90 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov over the course of a week — SBS commander
This was reported by Robert Brovdi (‘Madyar’), commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces.
According to him, during the night of 12 July alone, a further 14 vessels were hit – 10 tankers and four ferries.
“14 in one night, 90 vessels in a week. Every 112 minutes during the week of 6–12 July, the UAS ‘Birds’ struck one tanker, tugboat, ferry or dry cargo ship in the Sea of Azov with ‘Molochka’,” wrote “Madyar”.
The commander added that the operation is ongoing, and evidence of yet another attack – this time on the energy infrastructure of occupied Crimea – will soon be made public.
“The Crimean power switch was also switched off on the night of 12 July, and it too felt the full brunt of the occupation; I will report on this later with evidence,” he noted.
The Sea of Azov is currently one of the key supply routes for Russian troops in southern Ukraine. Fuel, military cargo and materials for the occupying forces in Crimea, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions are transported via this route.
According to estimates by the Ukrainian military, around 120 Russian vessels, mainly tankers, dry cargo ships, ferries and tugs, are constantly operating in this area.
This is not the first series of strikes against Russian shipping in recent days. The day before, Robert Brovdy reported that 21 vessels had been hit, and earlier still – 13 tankers linked to Russia’s so-called ‘shadow fleet’.
Following a series of Ukrainian attacks, the Russian authorities stated that they were forced to temporarily suspend civilian shipping through the Kerch Strait and the Don-Azov Shipping Canal, which is one of the main supply and export routes in the south of the Russian Federation.
