For the first time, the Ukrainian military has delivered a ground-based robotic system to the Kinburn Spit using a marine platform
The 123rd Separate Territorial Defence Brigade reported that it had carried out a combat operation during which a ground-based robotic system was delivered to the occupied shore of the Kinburn Spit in the Mykolaiv region using a remote-controlled maritime platform.
The brigade noted that the operation was carried out under the command of Colonel Oleg Makukha, commander of the 123rd Separate Territorial Defence Brigade, and was directly organised by Major Denys Gipik, commander of the 1st Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 123rd Separate Territorial Defence Brigade.
After being delivered to the enemy shore, the ground-based robotic system was deployed in the occupied territory and used to carry out a combat mission.
The unit stated that this was the first combat mission of this kind known to them anywhere in the world.
“The first combat mission of this kind in the world of which we are aware: a ground-based robotic system was delivered to the enemy shore using an unmanned maritime platform, deployed onto occupied territory in our homeland and used to carry out a combat mission,” the brigade reported.
The 123rd Separate Territorial Defence Brigade emphasised that the use of an unmanned maritime platform to deliver a ground-based robotic system allows missions to be carried out in areas where the risk to servicemen is extremely high.
The brigade also noted that it is continuing to develop robotic and unmanned systems that help save the lives of Ukrainian servicemen.
