Ukraine is launching a centre for military AI: the Ministry of Defence has set out an ambitious goal
This was announced by Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence is launching the Defense AI Centre “A1” – the first centre to specialise in the implementation of artificial intelligence in military technology.
Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the launch of the project. According to him, the centre is being established with the support of the UK government.
Fedorov stated that the Ministry of Defence is establishing a network of centres of excellence in key areas of modern warfare. These include, in particular, drones, Middle Strike, Deep Strike, artillery and other areas.
Such centres are to continuously analyse the battlefield and technologies and determine the next steps for development.
The first in this system will be the Defense AI Centre “A1”.
The main functions of the new centre include analysing combat data, predicting enemy actions, developing autonomous systems and creating new management tools.
The Ministry of Defence notes that the centre is intended to accelerate the transformation of combat experience and data from the front line into technological solutions. It is also expected to speed up the implementation of innovations directly within the armed forces.
According to Fedorov, AI-based solutions must become part of every domain of modern warfare – from intelligence to command and control.
The Minister also stated that Ukraine’s goal is to create the most effective defence system in Europe and a new-generation army based on the speed of innovation, autonomous systems and network superiority.
