The film *Spring*, directed by Rostyslav Kirpichenko, has been selected for the Cannes Film Festival. The film is set in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, where Russian forces are prohibiting the burial of executed Ukrainian civilians.

This was announced by the Ukrainian Film Academy and is also mentioned in the film festival’s announcement.

The film will be screened in the ‘Special Screenings’ section. ‘Spring’ is a joint production between Ukraine, Lithuania and France. Around 80 specialists are working on its creation.

The film is set in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, where Russian forces prohibit the burial of executed Ukrainian civilians.

The main character, 35-year-old priest Andriy, is forced to store the bodies of the dead before they are sent to mass graves. But he mounts a secret resistance: he identifies the deceased, returns them to their families and ensures they receive a dignified burial.

The Cannes Film Festival will take place from 12 to 23 May.
