Ukrzaliznytsia is updating suburban train services to reduce delays
Ukrzaliznytsia is changing the schedule of suburban trains as part of a large-scale review of timetables aimed at reducing delays and improving passenger safety on the busiest sections of the railway network.
This was reported by the press service of the joint-stock company Ukrzaliznytsia on Telegram. The company explains that the decision is related to the increase in traffic intensity, particularly on the Fastiv section, as well as the need for additional safety measures.
The schedule update covers more than 100 suburban trains throughout Ukraine. The main goal of the changes is to "unload" the sections with the highest passenger traffic, reduce waiting times and minimise traffic delays.
Particular attention is paid to the Fastiv section, which was damaged by shelling in December. As a result, train traffic there has become more difficult and requires more careful regulation and coordination.
Ukrzaliznytsia has specified that the new schedules will come into effect on the night of 21-22 January 2026. Passengers are advised to check the timetable carefully — it should say "valid from 22.01.2026".
During the transition period, until the updated schedule is fully implemented, suburban trains may be delayed by 1-2 hours, depending on the load on individual routes. Current schedules are available on the carrier's official website.
