Evacuation trains save lives every day — they transport people from dangerous areas to places where there is a chance of safety and recovery.

Ukrzaliznytsia, in cooperation with the charity organisation Skhid SOS, continues to evacuate residents from regions under constant shelling. This time, 80 people were evacuated from the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, where it had become dangerous for them to remain in their homes.

In particular, 20 citizens with limited mobility were taken to medical facilities in Kyiv, Lviv and Zhytomyr. Another 20 children and their parents were taken to Mukachevo, where the families were able to stay in safer conditions.

In total, Ukrzaliznytsia evacuated about 11,000 people from the frontline territories in 2025. The largest number of evacuees — 950 people — was in August, mainly from the Donetsk region.

The most popular evacuation routes remain Zaporizhzhia–Lviv, Pavlohrad–Lviv, Kherson–Lviv, and Shostka–Kyiv. In the western regions, evacuees are met by local authorities, volunteers, and humanitarian organisations, who help with accommodation and support.

Ukrzaliznytsia thanked railway workers, dispatchers, volunteers, and partners who contribute to this humanitarian mission on a daily basis.
