Ukrzaliznytsia opened eight "Unbreakable Carriages" in Kharkiv and Kyiv after shelling by the Russian Federation
Ukrzaliznytsia has placed eight "Unbreakable Carriages" in Kharkiv and Kyiv to support residents after another round of Russian shelling. Six carriages are operating in Kharkiv, and two more have been deployed in the Darnytskyi district of the capital. The company announced this on social media.
All carriages are open daily from 8:00 to 20:00 and are ready to welcome visitors with hot tea, warmth and electricity. People are encouraged to bring their phones, power banks and laptops, as the carriages offer charging facilities and internet access via Starlink, allowing them to work and study even during power outages. If necessary, visitors will be helped to heat up their own food in microwave ovens.
Special attention is given to families with children and pet owners. Books, colouring books and cartoons are available for children in the carriages, and pets are allowed to stay with their owners in cosy compartments. Support in organising the work is provided by partners, including charitable and humanitarian organisations.
For residents of the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, FoodTrain is also operating. The train kitchen team prepares up to 3,000 hot meals a day to support those most in need.
Each "Carriage of Resilience" is designed to accommodate up to 50 people at a time. Ukrzaliznytsia emphasises that there are enough of these points to provide heat, electricity and basic support to everyone who needs it.
As previously reported, in Kharkiv, due to massive Russian strikes on critical infrastructure, the coolant had to be drained from hundreds of high-rise buildings to preserve the heating systems. 853 buildings remain without heat, while another 300 have been connected to modular boiler rooms.
