The government is tightening control over drug prices: Svyrydenko tells about new rules
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko said that the government is tightening control over the prices of medicines to ensure their availability to the population in the face of frost and power outages due to attacks on the energy system. She said this in her Telegram channel
According to the Prime Minister, the Cabinet of Ministers has instructed the Ministry of Health and the State Administration on Medicines to constantly monitor the prices of medicines in pharmacies. In case of detection of excessive markups, the state will react by imposing penalties on pharmacies and business entities
A special list of medicines will be formed for systemic control. According to this list, the Ministry of Health, together with the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control, will carry out weekly monitoring of prices in the retail network and report the results to the Cabinet of Ministers
The Government also reminded that it had previously launched a comprehensive reform of the pharmaceutical market aimed at reducing the cost of medicines and maintaining access to them in times of crisis. One of the solutions within this reform was to allow the sale of OTC drugs at petrol stations, which usually have an autonomous power supply and can operate even during power outages
