In Ukraine, they plan to introduce a penalty point system for drivers
The penalty point system provides for the accumulation of points for regular violations.

This was reported by ThePublic.info citing a statement by the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, Volodymyr Kreidenko, on the air of telethon.

The penalty point system provides for accumulating points for regular violations — speed limits, parking, or creating emergency situations. Accumulated points will affect the driver’s right to operate a vehicle and may lead to the revocation of the driver’s license.

Kreidenko noted that currently in Ukraine there are drivers who systematically violate the rules, receive numerous fines, but continue to risk their lives and those of other road users, as legislation does not impose additional responsibility on them. The innovation is intended to improve road safety and discipline offenders.

According to him, the current fine for speeding is 340 hryvnias, and if paid within 10 days — 170 hryvnias, which is ineffective and allows drivers to repeatedly violate the rules. The permissible speed excess now is +20 km/h, but it is planned to be reduced to +10 km/h.

Kreidenko pointed out that many people die daily due to speeding: 41% of all injuries and deaths on the roads are directly related to this.
