In Ukraine, unified rules for transporting animals in intercity buses have been approved
For the first time in Ukraine, official rules for transporting pets in intercity bus transportation have been introduced, announced Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Serhii Derkach.

Together with the team of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and partners from UAnimals, another important step has been taken towards more comfortable, safe, and humane transportation — the rules for transporting animals on buses have been approved. For the first time. Such rules — finally in place — noted Dercak.

According to him, until now, there were no unified requirements for transporting animals: decisions were made by drivers and carriers at their own discretion, which created confusion and stress for both passengers and animals.

The rules stipulate:

  • Small animals (up to 10 kg) — cats, dogs, birds, and rodents — can travel in containers or bags with an absorbent bottom. They are allowed to be placed on hands, under the seat, or in a separate seat (with an additional ticket).
  • Medium and large dogs (10–45 kg) — are transported on the bus floor, with a mat and in a muzzle. It is mandatory to purchase a seat next to the owner.
  • Dogs over 45 kg — are transported according to the individual rules of the carrier, in specially equipped transport.
  • Guide dogs — travel free of charge, alongside the person they accompany.

All animals must have a properly issued veterinary passport.
