U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, is expected to travel to Moscow on Monday, December 1, where he is likely to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Details of the upcoming visit were reported by American media, citing an official who was on board Air Force One.

According to CNN, the exact date of the trip of Steven Witkoff — the special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump — has been revealed. He is expected to travel to Moscow on Monday, December 1, to meet with Vladimir Putin.

This was reported by ThePublic.info, referring to CNN’s coverage and the comment of an American official who was on board Air Force One with Trump.

Meeting Context

It is noted that the visit to Moscow will take place the day after the talks in Florida, where Witkoff, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Jared Kushner met with a Ukrainian delegation.

Following those talks, Rubio stated that some progress had been made, yet “a lot of work still lies ahead.” He also emphasized that American officials have been in contact with the Russian side through various channels and “understand their position quite well.”

CNN adds that it remains unclear whether Jared Kushner will accompany Witkoff to Moscow, although last week Donald Trump suggested that his son-in-law might join the special envoy on the trip.

What Trump Said

Speaking to journalists, the U.S. president confirmed that a meeting between Witkoff and Putin is being planned, but he did not specify the exact date, saying only: “Sometime next week.”
This statement was made on November 30, local time.

Kremlin’s Position

On November 28, Dmitry Peskov stated that Putin intends to meet with the U.S. special envoy in Moscow during the first half of next week.

Background

On Sunday, talks were held in the United States between Ukrainian and American delegations regarding the settlement of the Russian–Ukrainian war.
The outlet Axios reported that the U.S. aimed to move forward on two key unresolved issues — territorial matters and security guarantees.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the discussions in Florida also touched upon the possible timeline for elections in Ukraine.
