Volodymyr Zelenskyy chaired a meeting on security in northern Ukraine

Zelenskyy announced the strengthening of defences in the north
During the meeting, the head of state discussed preparedness for potential threats from Russia with representatives of the Rivne, Volyn and Zhytomyr regions. According to the president, the state will continue to fund the construction of fortifications and reinforce troop deployments in the north.
“We are looking north right now due to certain intelligence reports. We must be strong,” Zelenskyy emphasised.
The government must ensure free meals for all schoolchildren
During the meeting, particular attention was paid to issues of education and community development. In particular, in the Rivne region, the issue of a shortage of school places due to high birth rates was raised. Communities appealed to the state to help complete the construction and renovation of educational institutions, which had begun even before the full-scale war. The restoration of roads, the provision of school buses and support for veterans were also discussed. Following the meeting, the president instructed the government to ensure free hot meals for all pupils in years 1–11 from 1 September.
