Russian troops are being evacuated from the Kinburn Spit — currently the only temporarily occupied territory in the Mykolaiv region.

This was reported by the ‘South’ Regional Directorate of the Territorial Defence Forces.

“As a result of heavy fire, the Southern Defence Forces have forced the occupiers to retreat from their positions; the surviving personnel are being evacuated, and the occupiers are abandoning their defensive lines. We are not stopping! One day, our tanks will reach Dzhankoy after all!” the statement reads.

Footage was published showing a blue-and-yellow flag flying against the backdrop of a ruined building on the spit. However, there is no mention of establishing full control over the Kinburn Spit or liberating the territory.

Recently, Denis Nosikov, commander of the ‘Odessa’ operational-tactical group, stated that the Russians are evacuating their units from the Kinburn Spit due to logistical problems.

According to him, Ukrainian troops are constantly attacking the weapons systems that the Russians are attempting to bring onto the Kinburn Spit. Medium-range drones are being used for this purpose. Thanks to these strikes, together with units from the ‘South’ military group, they have managed to ‘effectively cut off’ Russian logistics on the Spit.

The Kinburn Spit is a sandy spit in the north-western part of the Kinburn Peninsula, which partially separates the Black Sea from the Dnipro-Bug Estuary. Russian forces seized it in March 2022, turning it into a staging ground for regular shelling of southern Ukraine.
