Zelenskyy and Aliyev have agreed on a security partnership
This was reported by the official Telegram channel of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Strategic areas of cooperation
During a meeting with media representatives, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ilham Aliyev outlined in detail the priorities for cooperation in the coming period. The main focus was on the energy sector and the defence-industrial complex.
For Ukraine, cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector is critical to ensuring the stability of the system, whilst joint steps in the defence sphere are designed to strengthen the capabilities of both countries. In addition, the leaders devoted considerable attention to humanitarian issues and the coordination of international efforts to restore lasting peace in the region.
Security as a safeguard against aggression
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised that issues of security and the development of the defence industry have now gone beyond the purely military sphere. This is a matter of global stability and peace of mind for people, who must be confident in their states’ ability to defend themselves against any external threats.
According to the President of Ukraine, a strong security partnership is a powerful preventive measure. Countries considering the possibility of aggression must clearly understand that the potential victim is prepared for any challenge. It is precisely this approach, according to Zelenskyy, that is the guarantee of peace, which Ukraine sincerely wishes for the people of Azerbaijan.
Deepening partnership for stability
The President noted that Ukraine is consistently working to expand its circle of security partners. Cooperation with Baku in this context is a logical step towards creating an architecture of stability, where each partner country becomes stronger through joint efforts.
“We are deepening our security partnership so that our peoples feel strong and secure,” Zelenskyy concluded in his address, adding that such talks send an important signal to the whole world about the unity of democratic states in matters of safeguarding sovereignty.
