Zelenskyy has responded to Putin’s proposal for a ceasefire on 9 May
He wrote about this on Telegram.
“Let’s find out exactly what this is about: a few hours of security for the parade in Moscow, or something more. Our proposal is to establish a long-term ceasefire, guarantee reliable security for people and lasting peace,” he emphasised.
On the evening of 29 April, Putin, in a conversation with US President Donald Trump, stated that he was ready to declare a ceasefire on 9 May.
Last year, on 28 April, Putin also announced a ceasefire from midnight on 8 May until midnight on 11 May. Despite this, the Russians continued their attacks across the entire front line. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they opened fire more than 700 times in the first half of the day on 8 May alone.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that the 9 May parade in Moscow would take place without military equipment due to the ‘operational situation’.
