Zelensky discussed the framework for negotiations in the UAE with the delegation
President Volodymyr Zelensky held consultations with the Ukrainian negotiating team in the United Arab Emirates and discussed the framework, topics and expected outcomes of trilateral meetings with representatives of the United States and Russia. The head of state announced this to journalists on 23 January.
According to Zelenskyy, he spoke with the entire team and separately with the head of the delegation, Rustem Umerov. The participants agreed on possible formats for dialogue and an approach to responding directly during the negotiations, as this format is being used for the first time in a long time. The President stressed that he would maintain contact with the delegation throughout the process.
On the same day, Zelensky approved the composition of the Ukrainian delegation by a corresponding decree. It included leaders and representatives of key state institutions, in particular the head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov, People's Deputy Davyd Arakhamia, Chief of the General Staff Andriy Gnativ, and the heads of intelligence, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the National Security and Defence Council. Compared to the previous composition of the delegation, one new member was added to the list, expanding the representation of parliament.
The meetings between the delegations of Ukraine, the United States and Russia are expected to take place on 23 and 24 January in Abu Dhabi.
