Zelenskyy outlines key topics of talks with Trump in Florida
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Sunday's talks in Florida with US President Donald Trump would have a wide audience and would be a logical continuation of the work of the negotiating groups.
End of war and security guarantees
Zelensky said that the central topic of the meeting would be a draft document on the end of the war. It is about 20 points of the basic framework being developed by Ukraine, the US, Europe and Russia. A separate block of negotiations will concern security guarantees. Several formats of documents are currently being worked on, including bilateral guarantees from the United States and a trilateral framework involving Ukraine, the United States and Europe. The President emphasised that the final commitments of the United States would largely depend on Trump's decision and the position of the Congress.
Economic agreement
Economic cooperation will be another point of negotiations. According to Zelenskyy, there are currently basic developments, but the parties plan to discuss the directions of several future agreements. This block is linked to the document on the recovery and economic development of Ukraine, known as the Roadmap for Prosperity.
Sensitive issues and elections
The President said he intends to raise all the points on which there are disagreements in the peace plan, including the issue of territories and management of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Zelenskyy also commented on the topic of elections and referendums, noting that Russia is trying to promote the idea of Ukrainians voting in the temporarily occupied territories and in Russia to subsequently question the legitimacy of the Ukrainian government. He emphasised that security and a stable ceasefire remain the key to any elections.
Public format and international consultations
The meeting in Florida will be public and will be held with the participation of the media. According to Zelenskyy, the very fact of the talks at the level of leaders indicates progress in the dialogue. Before his visit to the US, the President will stop in Canada, where he will talk to the Prime Minister and hold online consultations with European leaders to coordinate positions ahead of talks with Trump.
