August 24, the president traditionally addressed the Ukrainians with a speech on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day.

Zelensky addressed the Ukrainians from Maidan.

"We are building Ukraine, a country with enough strength and power to live in safety and peace. So that on this square, on the Maidan of our independence, under our flags, on our land, our children and grandchildren can celebrate Independence Day. In peace. In calm. With confidence in the future. With respect. And with gratitude to everyone who defended Ukraine in this war for independence, who stood firm, who could, who triumphed. Living for such a purpose is worth it. That is what we stand for. Happy holiday to you, great people of a great country!".
