Zelensky appointed Stefanishyna as the new ambassador of Ukraine to the USA
"I just spoke with Olha Stefanishyna – now the new Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States of America. The formal procedures are completed – today I signed the decree on the appointment of the Ambassador. I outlined key tasks for renewing the work of our embassy, and most importantly – to fully implement all agreements with Washington – our agreements with President Trump, especially in the defense sector," - said the president in the evening video address, published on Telegram.
He emphasized that, in many ways, the long-term security guarantees for Ukraine depend on the relationship with America.
"On the table – two Ukrainian proposals, these are strong proposals. This is an agreement on weapons for Ukraine, and an agreement on modern drones for the United States. And we are counting on a swift progress in relations," - noted Zelensky.
He thanked Oksana Markarova for her work throughout all these years of full-scale war.
"We have already discussed further cooperation, and I suggested to Oksana Markarova to continue being part of the team – working for Ukraine," - added the head of state.
Oksana Markarova has held the position of Ukraine's ambassador to the United States of America since February 25, 2021.
