Зеленський у Парижі: Україні потрібен надійний мир і швидке завершення війни
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris for several hours, focusing on the prospects of ending the war and securing reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.
According to ThePublic.info, Zelensky emphasized that achieving a durable and trustworthy peace is essential — and that the war must not be allowed to drag on any longer.
“Peace must be genuinely reliable. The war must end as soon as possible. Much now depends on the engagement of every world leader. Today, we will continue discussions with others,” Zelensky stated.
U.S. Peace Proposal Under Discussion
In recent days, Ukrainian officials have held several meetings with representatives of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, discussing possible frameworks for a new American peace plan.
The initial draft included provisions that Kyiv found unacceptable, such as:
-
withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donetsk and Luhansk regions;
-
de facto transfer of these territories under Russian control;
-
formal neutral status for Ukraine, eliminating the option of joining NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization).
After negotiations in Geneva, adjustments were made. According to sources, key restrictions — including a proposed cap on the size of the UAF (Ukrainian Armed Forces) — were removed from the updated draft.
The American initiative remains under review. Later this week, Steve Witkoff, the U.S. President’s Special Envoy, is scheduled to travel to Moscow to present the revised plan to the Russian leadership.
