Zelensky declares readiness of document on US security guarantees for Ukraine
A bilateral document on security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States is in the final stages of preparation and can be finalised at the highest level with the participation of US President Donald Trump. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the head of state, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov reported on the results of the negotiations of the Ukrainian delegation in France, where they discussed the readiness of the document for final approval. Zelenskyy emphasised that Ukraine continues to coordinate the work of its European partners and the US side, in particular in the areas of security, restoration of the country and economic development.
The President also noted that during the talks, the Ukrainian delegation discussed complex aspects of the basic framework that could become the basis for ending the war. The Ukrainian side has presented its proposals for finalising the document and is waiting for the US position after its contacts with Russia to understand whether Moscow is ready for a real cessation of hostilities.
After the negotiating team returns to Kyiv, Zelenskyy said, a detailed report on all the meetings held and their results will be presented. At the same time, Ukraine continues to inform its partners about the consequences of Russian strikes, which, as the president stressed, do not indicate a change in the Kremlin's priorities.
In this context, Zelenskyy stressed the need to increase international pressure on Russia in parallel with diplomatic efforts. According to him, the reality of future security guarantees should be confirmed now by the ability of partners to exert effective and consistent pressure on the aggressor state. Ukraine, he added, is preparing new contacts with its allies.
