Zelenskyy has changed the leadership of the State Border Guard Service: Vavryniuk becomes acting head
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Serhiy Deineko from the post of Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. According to the relevant decree, the First Deputy Head of the SBGS Valeriy Vavryniuk is to act as the Head of the Service.
The decrees were published on 4 January on the website of the head of state. Earlier, Deineko was appointed an adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs and after a short rehabilitation is to head a combat unit of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Vavryniuk has been the first deputy since October 2025, and in April 2023 he was promoted to the rank of major general.
