In Kyiv, law enforcement officers have arrested a 35-year-old local man suspected of organising the supply of cocaine from a European country. He was arrested whilst collecting a postal parcel, and cocaine and other narcotic substances with an estimated value of nearly 3 million hryvnias were seized from his flat.

This was reported by the Kyiv police.

How the drug supply network operated

According to the investigation, the man ran a private channel on a messaging app, through which he offered buyers various narcotic and psychotropic substances.

According to the police, the drugs were sold during face-to-face meetings. He accepted payment in cash, via bank transfers and in cryptocurrency.

The suspect was arrested whilst receiving another consignment of cocaine, which had arrived by post from one of the European countries.

What was seized during the search

During a search of the flat, law enforcement officers seized cocaine, alpha-PVP, cannabis, kratom, LSD, as well as confectionery containing cannabis. According to police estimates, the value of the seized drugs on the black market is around 3 million hryvnias.

What punishment does he face?

Investigators informed the man that he was suspected of an offence under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — the unlawful acquisition and possession of narcotic drugs for the purpose of sale, committed on a particularly large scale.

The penalty under this article provides for up to 12 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Pending the pre-trial investigation, the court has ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody without the right to bail.
