A further 60 Ukrainians have been successfully repatriated from the occupied territories and Russia — among them are seriously ill individuals and the family of a prisoner of war
This was announced by Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada’s Human Rights Commissioner.
He said that among those evacuated were people with reduced mobility and the seriously ill, who were at risk due to a lack of medical care under occupation. Their evacuation was organised with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross, involving specialised transport and medical staff. Citizens who had lost their documents and were unable to leave on their own were also helped to depart.
In particular, representatives of the Ombudsman’s Office managed to evacuate a man who had survived unlawful detention, beatings and torture. As a result of the torture, the Ukrainian man had effectively lost the ability to move independently and required urgent medical treatment. He is currently in territory controlled by Ukraine, where he will undergo treatment and rehabilitation.
In addition, during the humanitarian mission, the family of a Ukrainian serviceman was successfully reunited. The soldier himself returned from Russian captivity back in 2025, whilst his parents remained under occupation all this time. Thanks to the joint efforts of law enforcement agencies and international partners, a safe exit was organised for them, and the family is now reunited.
