The NGO "Kyivska Pushcha" has announced that DTEK Kyiv Power Grids may begin work in the Pushcha-Vodytsia recreational area by 10 June. Activists fear interference with the forest and are urging residents to document any potential violations

This is reported by KYIV.NEWS, citing the NGO "Kyivska Pushcha".

Activists warn of the risks of carrying out the work before 10 June

The public organisation claims that DTEK Kyiv Power Grids has installed a mobile transformer near a footpath in Pushcha-Vodytsia and may begin laying cable networks. According to representatives of the NGO, the Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Territorial Control has issued the company with a permit, which expires on 10 June. This is why activists suspect that the work may be carried out in the near future.

What is known about the criminal proceedings

The NGO "Kyivska Pushcha" reported that the Obolon District Court of Kyiv has ruled to open criminal proceedings regarding construction in the historic area of Pushcha-Vodytsia. Activists believe this concerns an attempt to install transformer equipment and lay cables through the recreational forest area. At the time of publication, DTEK Kyiv Power Grids had not publicly commented on the organisation’s statement.

Conflict over works in the recreational zone

The NGO also recalled the events of 8 May, when, according to them, DTEK machinery began earthworks on the recreational land in Pushcha-Vodytsia. The organisation claims that local residents prevented the work from proceeding at that time. Furthermore, the activists reported that they had contacted the city authorities and received a response stating that there was no registered project documentation in the Unified State Electronic System for Construction, nor any documents regarding the allocation of the land plot or notifications of the commencement of preparatory or construction works.

The community has called for the recording of any potential violations

The NGO "Kyivska Pushcha" has called on residents of Pushcha-Vodytsia and other Kyiv residents to record any incidents on video should machinery or workers appear, to call the police, and to demand that any potential violations be documented. The activists also stated that they are coordinating their actions through their own information channels.
