Ukraine has received a second tranche of $690 million from the IMF
On 23 July, Ukraine received a second tranche of around $690 million from the IMF under the new four-year programme.

This was announced by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.

The funds have already been transferred to the state budget and will be used to support macro-financial stability, in particular to finance priority expenditure.

Ukraine had already met all the criteria required to receive the funds by the end of March.

At the end of February 2026, the IMF Executive Board approved a new four-year Extended Fund Facility programme for Ukraine worth $8.1 billion. However, a number of conditions were imposed on Ukraine for further funding under the programme, including the adoption of four tax bills.

In June, Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that the International Monetary Fund and Ukraine had agreed on the next loan tranche of nearly $700 million, even though Kyiv had not met a programme condition — it had not passed the law on tax on international parcels.

A new body, but the same old methods – lawyers complain about the unlawful seizure of property and the failure of the ESBU to comply with court orders

Businesses continue to face systemic abuses by the Economic Security Bureau: despite court rulings in favour of business owners, ESBU detectives are in no hurry to return seized property, and in some cases are seizing equipment and documents in defiance of a direct ban by the investigating judge. Lawyer Denys Tereshchenko spoke about this on social media. His colleagues from various law firms confirm that the problem is systemic in nature.
