Binance faces the prospect of ceasing operations in the EU from July 2026

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, may lose its licence to provide services within the European Union.

This is according to Reuters.

According to the agency’s sources, the Greek regulatory authorities are set to reject the company’s licence application in the near future.

The reason is the introduction of new regulations governing the virtual asset market in the EU (MiCA).

Under these regulations, all companies in the sector are required to obtain a licence by the end of June. Without the necessary authorisation, Binance will not be permitted to continue operating in the EU from the start of July 2026.

The Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) declined to comment on Binance’s application, citing confidentiality rules.

Binance stated that it has been working with the HCMC over the past 18 months and has met all the requirements for obtaining authorisation.
