Brigade Commander Luchanov of the 155th Mechanised Brigade, who is suspected of kidnapping and murder, does not admit his guilt
He made this statement in the courtroom.
On 14 July, the Rokytne District Court in the Kyiv region will determine a pre-trial measure for Luchanov. At the start of the hearing, he stated that he did not admit his guilt.
When asked whether he had ordered the abduction of the Moseychuk brothers, the suspect denied this. According to the former brigade commander of the 155th Mechanised Brigade, he was on leave at the time the crime was committed. Therefore, as Luchanov explains, he could not have given such orders.
At the same time, the former brigade commander agreed to the prosecution’s proposal to impose a pre-trial detention order on him. He has promised to cooperate with the investigation.
The case of Luchanov, former brigade commander of the 155th Brigade: what is known
On the night of 27–28 June, seven people broke into the courtyard of two brothers’ home in the Kyiv region and took them away in an unknown direction. Subsequently, the police detained nine soldiers from the 155th Brigade on suspicion of kidnapping. Among those detained was Oleksiy Dolgolenko, the battalion commander of the 155th Brigade.
Stanislav Luchanov, commander of the 155th Mechanised Brigade, went missing after his soldiers were detained. The ‘South’ Operational Command later confirmed that Luchanov had left his military unit without authorisation — he is currently wanted.
On 13 July, law enforcement officers detained Luchanov in Kyiv. He became the tenth suspect in the case of the abduction of the Moseychuk brothers.
Law enforcement officers also managed to establish the details of the case: on the eve of the murder, a verbal altercation broke out between one of the brothers and a local woman because the young men were playing loud music and riding motorbikes. In response to her remarks, the brothers responded with foul language. A fellow villager, who is a soldier (Luchanov), demanded an apology to his wife, but the men rudely refused.
To take revenge, he enlisted other military personnel in his criminal plan. The suspects, who had been arrested earlier, broke into the victims’ property, used firearms, forcibly took the two men away by car to another region, unlawfully detained them for a prolonged period, and subsequently killed them.
