Britain has imposed sanctions on 175 companies and Transneft over Russia's war
This was reported by The Public with reference to Bloomberg.
According to a statement by the British Foreign Office, the sanctions are directed against companies in the 2Rivers network, which is involved in transporting Russian oil in circumvention of international restrictions. The Russian company PJSC Transneft, which transports more than 80% of Russia's oil exports, has also been hit by sanctions.
British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said the new measures are aimed at restricting the funding, military supplies and revenues that Russia uses to wage war against Ukraine. She noted that this package is the largest since the first months of Russia's full-scale invasion.
The British Foreign Office said that international sanctions have already deprived Russia of about $450 billion in revenue, equivalent to about two years of war funding.
The sanctions were announced against the backdrop of the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
