Budapest has set out 11 conditions for Ukraine regarding the Hungarian minority

According to Magyar, these concern guarantees for around 100,000 Hungarians living in Ukraine. Among the issues that Budapest considers fundamental are the possibility of using the Hungarian language in education, cultural life and the public sphere, as well as additional guarantees of representation for the Hungarian community. The Prime Minister stated that the Ukrainian side has long been familiar with these proposals, and negotiations on them are ongoing.
Kyiv and Budapest continue negotiations
Mátyás said that several rounds of consultations at a technical level have already taken place between the parties. The next step could be a meeting between the heads of the foreign ministries, after which the parties may move on to negotiations at a higher political level. The Hungarian Prime Minister also expressed his readiness to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Zakarpattia, specifically in areas with a high concentration of the Hungarian minority. Earlier, Péter Magyar emphasised that Ukraine has the right to defend its territorial integrity, and that a ceasefire should be the first step towards achieving peace.
