The transition to electronic employment records is currently underway in Ukraine, and for certain categories of employees, it is advisable to complete this process by the end of March.

This applies primarily to people who have two years or less remaining until they reach retirement age. Information regarding employment history prior to 1 July 2000 is also a priority. This has been reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

In addition, it is recommended that employees whose parental leave, suspension of their employment contract or long-term unpaid leave — i.e. leave lasting more than a month — begins in March should digitise their documents as a matter of priority.

The article notes that the electronic employment record book is set to become the primary means of safeguarding information on employment history in the event of the loss or damage of paper documents. Furthermore, it is the electronic data that will take precedence in the event of any legal disputes.

Experts advise paying particular attention to digitising information on employment history acquired before 1 January 2004. Lawyers explain that information on employment after this date is, as a rule, already automatically entered into state registers based on employers’ reporting.

Timely entry of data into the electronic system helps to avoid administrative errors and will simplify the automatic calculation of pensions in the future.
