Begoña Gómez, the wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, amid reports of corruption allegations
The wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Begonia Gómez, has been charged with corruption. The investigation into the case lasted two years.

According to the investigation, Begonia Gómez may have used her position to further her own interests.

In particular, this concerns the possibility of teaching at one of Madrid’s prestigious universities without the necessary qualifications.

Gómez herself denies any wrongdoing. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez claims that the case is a political smear campaign orchestrated by his opponents from the far-right opposition, who are seeking to undermine the current socialist coalition.

Earlier, Sánchez announced that he would step down from his duties for a few days to decide how to proceed in the wake of the corruption scandal surrounding his wife.

He later stated that he would not resign over the scandal.

As reported by ThePublic, during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Spain, the country’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez promised to provide Ukraine with five missiles for the Patriot PAC-2 systems.
