Ebola has reached Europe: where the case was reported and what is known about the patient — Ebola

France has confirmed its first case of Ebola during the current outbreak. The illness was diagnosed in a doctor who had returned from a humanitarian mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This was reported by the French Ministry of Health, according to France24.

The ministry stated that the patient had tested positive for the Ebola virus. In response to an enquiry from AFP, the ministry clarified that the case had been recorded on the French mainland.

The patient has been placed in isolation. The French authorities are also carrying out contact tracing to identify people who may have come into contact with the infected individual.
