Salaries for police officers and emergency services personnel are set to rise: the date has now been announced
This is reported on the Parliament’s website.
The document sets out new rules on pay for rank-and-file and senior personnel of the State Emergency Service (SES) and police officers.
What are the principles behind the calculations?
Under the law, the amount of pay must take into account the nature, intensity and danger of the work, compensate for physical and mental exertion, and help attract qualified personnel.
The law stipulates that the monthly pay of police officers and rank-and-file and senior personnel of the Civil Protection Service must not be less than 10 times the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons, as set on 1 January of the calendar year. This currently amounts to 33,280 hryvnias.
What will the salary consist of?
The pay of police officers and rescue workers will consist of:
- a basic salary;
- a salary based on their special rank;
- a length-of-service allowance;
- bonuses;
- other payments to be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
When will the new payments come into effect?
It is envisaged that the new conditions for calculating financial remuneration will come into force on 1 January 2027.
In addition, police officers temporarily serving abroad will continue to receive their payments in hryvnia. They will also be able to receive remuneration in foreign currency in accordance with rules to be determined by the government.
Separately, the law regulates the procedure for payments to police officers seconded to other state bodies, institutions and organisations.
