Former Odessa mayor Trukhanov placed under 24-hour house arrest
The former Odessa mayor Trukhanov has been granted a preventive measure — round-the-clock house arrest and was ordered to wear an electronic bracelet, reports ThePublic.info citing Suspilne.
He and eight other individuals are suspected of official negligence that led to the deaths of people during the storm on September 30. Previously, preventive measures were imposed on eight officials of the Odessa City Council and the municipal enterprise "City Roads": some of the suspects were placed under house arrest, others were remanded in custody with bail ranging from 1.5 to 3 million hryvnias.
The investigation believes that Trukhanov improperly performed his duties and failed to ensure the proper functioning of the city's engineering networks. Despite years of flooding problems, he did not initiate repairs of the storm sewer and drainage systems, and on the day of the disaster, he did not organize public notification.
