From 200,000 to 1 million UAH: The Cabinet of Ministers has updated the compensation procedure for affected workers
New rules on compensation for victims of Russian shelling
The Cabinet of Ministers has clarified the procedure for providing one-off financial assistance to employees of critical infrastructure facilities, civil servants and local government officials who have been affected by the Russian aggression.

This was announced by the press office of the Ministry of Social Policy.

The government adopted the relevant decision to improve the mechanism for awarding and paying compensation for harm to life and health sustained whilst performing official duties at critical infrastructure facilities.

The amount of the one-off payment remains unchanged:

  • 800,000 UAH – for persons with Group I disability;
  • UAH 500,000 – for persons with Group II disability;
  • 200,000 UAH – for persons with a Group III disability;
  • 1 million UAH – in the event of a person’s death.

The resolution, in particular, clarifies the procedure for issuing a personal order regarding the payment of benefits in the event of an employee’s injury or death, and also regulates the mechanism for additional payments in the event of a change in the disability group.

From now on, if a person is assigned a higher disability group following the initial determination of disability, they will be able to receive the difference between the amount already paid and the new compensation amount.

In addition, the government has set time limits for exercising the right to benefits. Applications for payment may be made during the period of martial law and for three years following its termination or repeal.

Separate provisions have been made regarding compensation in cases where victims or their family members have already received other one-off or insurance payments. If the amount of these payments is less than the sum guaranteed by law, the state will compensate the difference.

The assistance will be awarded and paid by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

The changes are intended to ensure that state support is received in full and on time by those who suffered as a result of Russian aggression whilst working at critical infrastructure sites, as well as by the family members of those killed.
