Ukraine is to deploy new drone units along the border with Belarus
This was announced by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.
According to Syrskyi, the drone units will be provided with the necessary weapons, equipment and other items required for combat missions. At the same time, the units already defending the territory in this sector will be reinforced.
In particular, Territorial Defence brigades plan to increase the number of drone units. Syrskyi says this will help conduct reconnaissance more effectively, strike at Russian forces and defend their sections of the front line.
Threat from Belarus: what is known
It is worth noting that this is not the first time reports of a possible offensive from Belarus have emerged. Back in early April 2026, Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the strengthening of defences in the northern sector.
Ukrainian intelligence also warned of the threat of a new invasion, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi confirmed the reality of such a scenario in a recent interview.
The State Border Guard Service shares this assessment, identifying the Belarusian border as one of the areas posing a potential threat to Ukraine.
