Goncharenko paid bail for two men following the incident involving the TCC in Volyn

According to the MP, he posted bail for Petro Smirnov and Mark Kuzub, who had previously been sent to a remand centre following an incident in Volyn. Goncharenko also published proof of payment. According to him, a bail of 29,952 hryvnias and a commission of 299.52 hryvnias were paid for each of the men. The total amount of payments was 60,503 hryvnias.
The MP claims that the men were defending themselves after people wearing balaclavas entered private property. According to him, Petro Smirnov and Mark Kuzub “fought back with shovels”, and it later emerged that the participants in the conflict were representatives of the TCC. Goncharenko stated that he would continue to monitor this case.
What is known about the incident in Volyn
The clash took place on 9 June near the village of Verbka. According to official information, a conflict arose between civilians and TCC servicemen after the police attempted to stop a minibus. Law enforcement officers reported that a group of people armed with shovels, crowbars, axes and a knife attacked the patrol. During the incident, one serviceman sustained a head injury, and two service vehicles were damaged. A criminal case has been opened under the article on violence against a public official. The maximum penalty for this offence is up to five years’ imprisonment.
