Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi held a meeting with Lieutenant General Curtis Bazzard, Head of the NATO Special Mission for Security Assistance. The parties discussed the situation on the front line, the needs of the Ukrainian military and further support from allies

This was reported by Novosti.Live.

What Syrskyi and Bazzard discussed

One of the main topics of the meeting was the needs of the Ukrainian military, in particular the strengthening of the air defence system. Syrskyi noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to work to repel Russian attacks and inflict maximum losses on the occupiers.

“We must seize the strategic initiative, so we are conducting an active defence. This allows us to wear down the enemy, regain our positions and inflict maximum losses,” the commander-in-chief stated.

According to Syrskyi, modern technology and the effective use of intelligence data should make every attempt at an offensive by the Russian army as costly as possible for the enemy.

What assistance do the Armed Forces of Ukraine need?

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the critical needs of Ukrainian brigades. Protecting Ukrainian airspace remains a priority, as the work of air defence affects both the situation at the front and the security of rear areas. Following the meeting, Syrskyi awarded Curtis Bazzard the honorary “Steel Cross” medal. The Commander-in-Chief recognised the NATO representative’s contribution to strengthening the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army.
