What role will Budanov’s new adviser, Tihipko, play in the team? — media reports
Сергій Тігіпко
What role will Serhiy Tihipko, a businessman and deputy prime minister under Viktor Yanukovych, take on in the Office of the President?

Serhiy Tihipko, whom the Head of the President’s Office, Kyrylo Budanov, has appointed as his special adviser, will serve as an expert on macroeconomic policy at the Presidential Administration and will be involved in developing the state’s strategy in this area.

This was reported to NV by a well-informed source.

According to the publication’s source, the former deputy prime minister and owner of the TAS financial and industrial group has experience and expertise in these areas.

Tigipko is the former leader of the Strong Ukraine party and served as Deputy Prime Minister under Viktor Yanukovych (from 2010 to 2012), having also held other posts in several governments. He was also a member of the Verkhovna Rada for three terms and, at one time, headed Yanukovych’s election campaign headquarters.

In January 2014, Tihipko voted in favour of the so-called ‘dictatorial laws’, which restricted citizens’ rights and were directed against participants in the Euromaidan.
