In Russia, two oil depots in the Tver Region and the Stavropol Krai are on fire following a drone attack
On the night of 9 July, drones attacked a number of oil and military facilities on Russian territory, as well as tankers in the Sea of Azov. In addition, the occupied part of the Kherson region experienced a power cut.
In Tver, according to the acting governor of the Tver Region, one of the storage tanks at the ‘Tver Oil Depot’ caught fire as a result of the drone attack. He stated that the fire had been contained and that there were no casualties.
The Astra Telegram channel reported that the facility in question is a subsidiary of ‘Surgutneftegaz’, which handles the reception, storage and dispatch of motor petrol and diesel fuel, as well as supplying fuel to a network of 52 petrol stations in the Tver Region.
A fire also broke out at an industrial site in the Stavropol Krai. According to Astra, drones struck the “Lukoil Yugnefteprodukt” oil depot in Mikhailovsk. According to the publication, local residents heard explosions, and the fire engulfed the oil depot’s grounds. The governor stated that residents of nearby buildings were evacuated as the flames approached the fuel tanks.
In addition, following the second drone attack of the day in the Sea of Azov, two tankers caught fire. The governor of the Rostov Region reported that the vessels in Taganrog Bay had sustained mechanical damage. The fire on one tanker had been extinguished, whilst the other was still alight as of 7.30 am. The crews had been evacuated and, according to him, there were no casualties.
The day before, he said, two other tankers heading for Rostov-on-Don had already been attacked in Taganrog Bay.
The monitoring website Supernova also reported that in the occupied town of Sorokine in the Luhansk region, drones struck an ammunition depot. According to video footage released, a fire broke out at the site following the strike and secondary detonations occurred.
