On the night of 9 July, the Ukrainian Defence Forces carried out strikes against a number of Russian military and military-economic targets. The strikes targeted vessels in the Sea of Azov, an oil terminal in the Rostov region and an ammunition depot in the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region.

On the night of 9 July, units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, as part of measures to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian Federation, carried out strikes against a number of key enemy military and military-economic targets.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 12 tankers, one tugboat and one dry cargo vessel belonging to the Russian Federation were struck in the waters of the Sea of Azov. The extent of the damage caused and the results of the strikes are being clarified.

The General Staff noted that these vessels were being used to supply fuel and lubricants to Russian military formations, as well as to transport oil and petroleum products in circumvention of international sanctions. Furthermore, they facilitated the export of energy resources, which is one of the sources of funding for the war against Ukraine.

The Defence Forces also struck the ‘Yug Rus’ oil terminal in the city of Bataysk, Rostov Oblast. A fire has been reported in the vicinity of the facility. According to the General Staff, this facility is used for the transhipment of petroleum products for export, to supply Russian troops in the southern sector with fuel and lubricants, and to generate foreign currency revenue.

In addition, an enemy ammunition depot in the Sorokine area of the Luhansk region was struck. The final results of the strike are being clarified.

Robert Brovdi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, call sign “Madyar”, reported that overnight, unmanned units struck 45 military targets in Crimea and in the south of the temporarily occupied territories. According to him, these included the Saki Thermal Power Station, fuel and lubricant depots and bases, logistical support facilities, the “Zhitiel” electronic warfare station, communication towers, vehicles and vessels.

The General Staff emphasised that the Ukrainian Defence Forces will continue to carry out operations aimed at weakening the Russian Federation’s military capabilities and bringing its armed aggression to an end.
