Iran has carried out strikes on US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait
In Bahrain, air-raid sirens sounded following Iranian missile strikes, and residents were urged to proceed immediately to the nearest shelters and to follow official announcements. This was stated by the country’s Ministry of the Interior, according to the JPost.
According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, the targets of the attack were US helicopters and P-8 radar reconnaissance aircraft stationed at Shakhir Air Base. The Iranian side stated that the strikes were in response to attacks on civilian infrastructure and the civilian population, and warned of a “swift and decisive” response to any further escalation.
Later, an air raid alert was issued in Bahrain for the second time that day. The country’s defence forces reported that they had intercepted and destroyed several aerial targets.
In Kuwait, air defence systems were activated following missile strikes and drone attacks from Iran. The country’s armed forces urged the public to follow the instructions of the relevant authorities and explained that the sounds of explosions were caused by air defence systems intercepting missiles and drones.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that the targets of the attacks were US military facilities, forces and logistical infrastructure.
In Qatar, the Ministry of Defence reported that a missile attack had been repelled, whilst the Ministry of the Interior stated that the security threat had passed. According to the authorities, air defence forces intercepted several aerial targets. At the same time, it is reported that one child was injured by falling debris following the interception of a missile.
Iranian state media also reported an attack on US fighter jets stationed in Jordan. Earlier, the Jordanian authorities stated that air defence forces had intercepted three Iranian missiles heading towards the country’s territory. According to official figures, there were no casualties or damage.
