The US military has continued its air campaign against Iran, launching its sixth consecutive wave of strikes. According to US Central Command, dozens of military targets were hit during the operation, which lasted nearly eight hours.

For the sixth night in a row, the United States has been carrying out air strikes on targets within Iran. This was reported by US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The command stated that the strikes are aimed at further weakening Iran’s military capabilities. According to CENTCOM, the latest wave of attacks lasted almost eight hours.

The US military reported that dozens of military facilities were struck during the operation, including coastal surveillance assets, air defence systems, military logistics infrastructure and naval facilities.

The US employed fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles, naval vessels and precision-guided munitions to carry out the strikes.

CENTCOM noted that the operation was being carried out on the orders of President Donald Trump. The command stated that the US military continues to degrade Iran’s military capabilities and hold it accountable for recent attacks on commercial shipping.

CENTCOM also reported that a force of over 50,000 US military personnel is currently deployed in the Middle East, ready to carry out combat missions.

According to the Iranian news agency Fars, several bridges in the southern province of Hormozgan were damaged during the US strikes. Some of these are located on routes to the city of Bandar Abbas, where the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ naval base is situated.

The Wall Street Journal, citing a senior US official, reported that the strikes on the bridges were aimed at cutting off supply routes to Bandar Abbas. According to the publication, these attacks are part of a large-scale air campaign and naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iranian sources, seven people were killed and a further nine were injured as a result of the strikes.

Iran’s Ministry of Energy reported that the attacks damaged a power line in Bandar Abbas and neighbouring settlements. The Fars News Agency also reported damage to the city’s railway junction.

Earlier, Donald Trump stated that the United States had achieved the main objectives of the operation against Iran, but intends to continue and intensify the strikes in the coming days to force Tehran to return to the negotiating table.
