Spain to allocate €200 million to modernise Ukraine's energy sector and infrastructure
This was reported by The Public with reference to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.
The issue of financing was discussed during a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine and the head of the Spanish Office for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Clara Guzmán Saperter.
First Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Alona Shkrum noted that the total amount of Spanish aid to Ukraine has already exceeded €845 million. She also reported that the creation of a specialised office and the allocation of an additional €200 million are aimed at modernising energy and infrastructure, as well as strengthening the participation of Spanish businesses in reconstruction projects.
The Spanish office will operate on a "single window" basis for private Spanish companies implementing projects in Ukraine. The parties also discussed mechanisms for preferential long-term lending, grant support and technical assistance.
The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine invited Spanish partners to join investment projects in the energy and logistics sectors. These are initiatives with a high level of readiness that can be financed with the participation of the Spanish side and the private sector.
In addition, the ministry announced preparations for the signing of intergovernmental agreements in the G2G format, which will form the legal basis for the implementation of reconstruction and development projects.
The main objective of the Spanish office is to coordinate resources for the recovery, reform and modernisation of Ukraine, as well as to expand the participation of Spain and its businesses in these processes. The possibility of opening a representative office directly in Ukraine is also being considered.
